Do I need to be in shape to begin classes?
Okinawan Karate can be learned by anyone regardless of their level of fitness. Our beginner program is designed to acclimate you to training at a relaxed pace and focused on helping you improve your overall fitness levels.
What if I have physical limitations?
Not an issue at all. When you watch our classes you will see people from all walks of life. Some young, some old. Okinawan Karate is designed to work with the person and their abilities. We do not teach a “one size fits all” type of Karate program. Our professional instructors will work with you and develop your skills around your limitations to the best of our abilities.
How hard will training be on my body? Is Karate training going to be violent?
Our program will build your body step by step, increasing your abilities as you travel along in your martial arts journey. We do not put students directly into certain aspects of training until they have been prepared for them. Training a good Karate dojo is not violent at all. Our dojo atmosphere is one of supportive, non-competitive and nurturing skill building. We do not fight as Karate is for defensive purposes.
